Since 1982, we’ve been at the heart of Bristol’s live music scene, hosting everyone from Radiohead, Oasis and Muse to Amy Winehouse, IDLES, Ed Sheeran and Queens of the Stone Age.

When is Bristol Freshers Week 2026?

Freshers activities usually take place throughout September as students arrive in Bristol for the new academic year. Individual university dates vary, and you’ll find gigs and events happening across the city before, during and after the main Freshers Week period.

What Freshers events are happening in Bristol?

Bristol has a huge range of Freshers events including live music, club nights, student events, socials and university activities.

At The Fleece, our programme focuses on live music, touring artists, tribute shows and alternative nights in one of Bristol’s best-known independent venues.

Do I need to be a student to attend Freshers events at The Fleece?

No, but you get special treatment if you are! Think big discounts, free shots, and plenty of ways to celebrate your new life in Bristol! The vast majority of events at The Fleece are public events and you do not need to be a student to attend.

Always check the individual event page before buying a ticket for any specific entry requirements.

Do I need ID?

Yes, bring valid photo ID with you. The Fleece operates Challenge 25. Our club nights are strictly 18+, while age restrictions for live gigs vary, so check the individual event before booking.

Where is The Fleece?

We’re at 12 St Thomas Street, Bristol, BS1 6JJ, in Bristol city centre. We’re based in Bristol city centre, a short walk from Bristol Temple Meads and within easy reach of the city’s main student areas. The venue is easily accessible from University of Bristol accommodation, Bristol city centre and UWE Bristol campuses via Bristol’s bus network.

Should I buy Freshers event tickets in advance?

We recommend it.

Some shows will have tickets available on the door, but popular events can sell out. If there’s something you definitely want to see, booking in advance is the safest option. Tickets for our Freshers events can be bought through the individual event pages above. We recommend buying through The Fleece website or the official ticket provider linked from the event page.
